On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are proud to announce today that we have selected our preferred candidate for Superintendent of Dixon Unified School District. Brett Barley is a former 4th grade Teacher in San José, was the Superintendent at Wonderful College Prep Academy in Delano, and is currently the Superintendent at the California Montessori Project in Sacramento.
In addition to his administrative and classroom experience, Mr. Barley has a background in both education policy and public advocacy, including as Deputy State Superintendent for the Nevada Department of Education. His experience along with a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, makes Mr. Barley highly qualified and the candidate who most closely meets the characteristics and attributes in the superintendent profile that you all helped develop.
Mr. Barley will be formally appointed at the next school board meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2024. The full press release (in both English and Spanish) are attached and the full text can be found below.

ENVIADO EN NOMBRE DE LA JUNTA DE GOBIERNO DEL UNIFICADO DIXON
En nombre de la Junta Directiva, estamos orgullosos de anunciar hoy que hemos seleccionado a nuestro candidato preferido para Superintendente del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Dixon. Brett Barley fue maestro de cuarto grado en San José, fue superintendente de Wonderful College Prep Academy en Delano y actualmente es superintendente del Proyecto California Montessori en Sacramento.
Además de su experiencia administrativa y en el aula, el Sr. Barley tiene experiencia tanto en políticas educativas como en defensa pública, incluso como Superintendente Estatal Adjunto para el Departamento de Educación de Nevada. Su experiencia junto con un título de Juris Doctorado de la Universidad de San Diego y una licenciatura de la Facultad de Periodismo y Comunicaciones de la Universidad de Florida, hacen del Sr. Barley altamente calificado y el candidato que más se acerca a las características y atributos del perfil de superintendente. que todos ustedes ayudaron a desarrollar.
